walking - fresh air and exercise

The club caters for walkers of all abilities, from those preferring low level walks through beautiful countryside, to those wishing to tackle Scotland's 282 Munros, mountains over 3000 feet (914m) high.

Club members are a sociable lot from all walks of life, but we share a love of the outdoors. The club runs a programme of coach outings every second Saturday throughout a season which runs from August until the following June, travelling to places such as Glencoe, Aviemore, Fife for the Coastal Walk, even venturing down to the Lake District!

In addition to this, the club arranges two away weekends, one at the end of May, and one at the end of September. These are usually to places beyond the range of the coach outings.

Club members currently meet on Zoom on the Tuesday evening prior to the Saturday's walk to plan their routes for the upcoming location. You can just hop on the bus each time and tag along with someone else's pre-planned route, but it's good to attend the Tuesday on-line Zoom meeting yourself and learn how to map read and plan your own walk. There are skilled and experienced club members who are only too happy to share their knowledge and pass on their skills - all you need to do is ask. All routes are mapped and calculated so that the various walks all meet back at the bus in time to go for a social stop on the way home, and enjoy a well-earned pint or a coffee.
